Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how FileShrinkr (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit fileshrinkr.com and use our image tools. By using the site you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Who we are

FileShrinkr is operated by Prabhat Barai. For privacy questions, email xspace.dummy@gmail.com or use the Contact form.

Information you provide

Image uploads and processing

Browser (private) mode: For supported JPG, WEBP, AVIF, and PNG compression paths, processing normally runs in your browser. Those files are not uploaded to our servers for that path.

Server mode and server fallbacks: When you choose Server mode, or when Browser mode cannot complete a job (for example PDF export, some HEIC/HEIF files, EXIF stripping, MozJPEG), images are uploaded to our server for temporary processing. We use a short-lived workspace to produce your download. We do not intend to keep uploads longer than needed to finish the request and deliver the file. Do not upload content you cannot risk exposing to an online service.

Processed downloads may be stored briefly so your browser can fetch them. Treat download URLs as sensitive while they remain valid.

Contact form

If you contact us, we collect your name, email address, subject, and message solely to respond. We do not sell this information. Delivery may use email, SMTP, or a configured webhook depending on server configuration.

Automatically collected data

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic and product usage (for example which tools are used, approximate geography, device type). Google may set cookies and collect device and usage data as described in Google’s Privacy Policy.

Advertising & Google AdSense Policy Compliance

We partner with Google AdSense to serve advertisements across our educational guides, blog articles, and tool pages. To comply with Google AdSense program policies, please note the following:

Cookies and similar technologies

We and our partners use cookies and local storage for analytics, advertising, and basic site functionality. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; doing so may limit analytics quality or ad relevance. Essential processing for compression does not require advertising cookies.

How we use information

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers that help operate the site — notably Google (Analytics and AdSense) — under their respective terms. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the service.

Data retention

Uploaded images and generated outputs are intended for temporary processing only. Analytics and advertising data retention is controlled by Google’s product settings and policies. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any follow-up.

Children’s privacy

FileShrinkr is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

International visitors

Our servers and vendors may process data in countries other than your own. By using the site you understand that processing may occur in those locations subject to applicable law and vendor safeguards.

Your choices

Use Browser mode when you want to avoid uploading rasters for supported formats. Adjust cookie and ad settings in your browser and Google Ads Settings. You may email us to ask about contact-form data we hold related to your message.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
